Cooperative Union celebrates cooperative week
In connection with celebrations of 60th all India Cooperative week, commencing yesterday a function was organised by J&K cooperative union, at its head office, Shahidi Chowk Jammu. The week long celebrations quick started with hoisting of the flag by Rajesh Shrama Chairman J&K Cooperative Union and its board of directors.
Speaking on the occasion Rajesh Sharma said that the cooperative week this year had special signification, since it commenced on the birth anniversary of County’s first Prime Minister Pt Jawhar Lal Nehru, who was the architect of starting the cooperative movement in the country, as a means to solve common problems of the people, particularly in rural areas and for improving the lot of the poor and weaker sections of the society through their collective efforts.
Mr Rajesh Sharma informed the participants on the last day of celebrations of Cooperative week on, November 20 the J&K Cooperative Union will hold state level cooperative conference, at Dayala Chak in Kathua Distt., where Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Minister of Cooperative will be the Chief Guest.
Rajesh Sharma exhorted the members of the Cooperative Union and its employees to work hard and with dedications to strengthen the cooperative movement in the state. The General Secy. of the Cooperative Union Krishi Pandit Dr. Bakshi said that the cooperative movement had improved the economic condition of the people living in rural areas.
The movement has also up lifted the lot of the poor and the weaker sections of the society. But there is need to strengthen the movement further to achieve the objectives of cooperation, he added.
